What’s In A Name: The Art & Science Behind The Sollensys Brand

People love when something has significance and deep meaning. We can’t help ourselves; we’re just made this way. It’s a concept explored in Dr. Abraham Maslow’s book, “Motivation and Personality.” Since the dawn of human existence, we have sought meaningful ways to communicate what’s important to us. We began with facial expressions, hand gestures, and pictograms on cave walls before finally developing languages. We are on an unending journey to find expression and meaning in life.

Any brand trying to build something meaningful for customers knows it can be hard to put the right pieces together that tell the perfect story. At Sollensys—pronounced SOUL-IN-SIS—we started with a tricky word packed full of meaning. In German, ‘sollen’ means MUST, and ‘sys’ is shorthand for SYSTEM. Just as the name suggests, our company is clear about the necessity of this product.

After the name, what comes next? As previously mentioned, pictograms were once a primary form of communication. Those that get a chance to visit the Palatki Ruins outside of Sedona, Arizona, will marvel at the pictograms ranging from animals at work to celestial events. We still use pictograms in modern communication (who hasn’t sent an emoji?), and every business has a logo. It’s just now we call these things iconography

Getting back to Sollensys, the company branding needed an icon that finished the story of a MUST SYSTEM. We created the first cybersecurity safety net built on the brilliance of blockchain technology. The Sollensys’ product stands for safety and protection, and we drew inspiration from the Celtic Knot and hexagon shape. The Celtic Knot symbolizes many things, including unity and protection. The meaning of a hexagon is to ‘complement or even synthesize and integrate into one coherent entity.’

The branding of Sollensys represents a must-have security system that integrates with and complements all other technology platforms. So, if anyone ever asks, ‘what’s the meaning in our name?’ The answer is EVERYTHING.
